Opportunities
We're currently recruiting for two roles. Please reach out with any questions.
(1) A PhD student to work on the Trees-in-fields Network: https://research.reading.ac.uk/foodbiosystems/for-phd-students-2/
(2) A fieldwork assistant for seasonal work during Spring 2026. Email Millie (a.s.hood [at] reading.ac.uk) for more information.
We're recruiting farmers with existing mature silvoarable systems to Chryssa's PhD project, which will look at the impacts of converting arable systems into silvoarable ones on climate resilience, the microclimate and water dynamics in the soil and crops.
We're also recruiting farmers interested in adopting new silvoarable systems to the Trees-in-fields Network. This is open to farmers within 60 miles of Reading. Email Millie (a.s.hood [at] reading.ac.uk) for more information on either.
News
This month, we are celebrating Chryssa's Achievement Award for her master's thesis at Reading! Chryssa achieved the most consistent grades and highest dissertation. Her thesis investigated the impact of converting orchard monocultures into silvoarable agroforestry. Well done Chryssa and great to have you continuing in the group with a PhD.
